Fredericksburg/San Antonio

Let the adventures begin! Our first Texas tour was to Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg, which is in the Hill Country of Texas. Not at all what I expected--more desert than forest. Enjoyed BBQd venison burgers at a friend's house and then it was off to explore. Loved the little German town of Fredericksburg. Stopped at a quilt shop, the famous Rather Sweet Bakery, and listened to a tuba quartet play German songs.

Lots of walking made the boys very tired.

Remember the Alamo? We got to see it in San Antonio on the way home from Fredericksburg. I was very surprised to learn it was smack dab in the middle of the city. That's TJ, Harley, and me posing in front.

This is a shot of the famous River Walk in San Antonio. It's probably the coolest feature of any downtown I have experienced. Every city should have one of these!

This was a building we saw while walking (yes, more walking) along the River Walk. Isn't it cool?!

On our way back to the car, Harley decided he'd had enough walking. You'd think these boys in the prime of their life would have more energy!
